Where Cucumbers and Cabling Converge: Powering a Hydroponic Greenhouse Upgrade

The image of a farmer steering his plow behind a pair of oxen might be iconic, but it is a long way off from how the modern agriculture industry operates. Clydesdale horses and old red tractors have given way to heavy-duty combines and mega greenhouses. Today’s farming technology is advanced, and it requires advanced electrical systems to operate.

This is where our client comes in. In addition to other industrial and commercial electrical services, they provide power systems and services to large agriculture businesses. One such business requested their assistance on an upgrade that would allow them to expand their hydroponic cucumber greenhouse exponentially. Here’s how Trinity Power helped.

The Client: A Well-Established Electrical Contractor

After 40 years in business, this Southern Ontario-based Electrical Contractor knows a thing or two about doing good business. With their values of trust, timely project delivery and high quality work, this EC has developed a robust rolodex of strong, long-lasting relationships. The services they offer include commercial power generation, agricultural electrical construction, emergency response services, and more.

The Challenge: A Delayed Transformer Delivery

Our client had been contracted to work on a high-voltage infrastructure upgrade for a greenhouse expansion. The upgrade would allow for up to 20 acres of lighted greenhouses, and a significant increase in the hydroponic cucumber grower’s yield.

The initial phase of the project would involve completing the high-voltage infrastructure necessary for an initial 10 acres of greenhouses, with lighting for 5 acres.
Our client hit a snag when they discovered that supply chain issues would delay the delivery of the main transformer and switchgear, which would mean the greenhouses would not be ready in time for the fall planting season.

Looking for a temporary solution that would work with their customer’s planting schedule, our client called Trinity power.

Our Approach: Quick, Collaborative and Hassle-Free

Thanks to their electrical experience, their knowledge and the research they had done on our website prior to making the call, our client knew exactly which equipment they wanted us to deliver.

Without delay, Trinity provided:

The Result: Deadline Met and a Planting Season Saved

Thanks to our client’s experience and due diligence, as well as Trinity’s extensive inventory and efficient processes, we were able to collaborate to ensure their customer would be able to do their fall planting in their newly upgraded greenhouse.
